Step 3: Creating the Buyer Discovery list

With the List name from Step 2, you can create the list in Marketo that will contain all of the leads that will be matched for buyer intent.

The Buyer Discovery Marketo integration relies on a static list with a specific name (found in step 2) to sync the intent signals with the proper leads.

To create the list:

  1. Log in to Marketo, then Database

  2. Select the folder in which you wish to create the list (or add a new folder)

  3. Click New -> New List

  4. Select the folder in which you want to house the list

  5. Name the list as the text you saved for the List name (Earlier Step 1.5)

Step 4: Creating the Buyer Discovery smart campaign

Once the List is created with the correct name, you can create the Smart Campaign to update the list with all leads daily.

To create the Flow:

  1. Log in to Marketo, then Marketing Activities

  2. Click New -> New Smart Campaign

  3. Select the folder in which you want to house the smart Campaign

  4. Name the Smart Campaign

  1. Under Smart List

    1. Add triggers; at minimum, recommend: Person Attributes -> Email Address ->

“is not empty”

  1. Click Flow

    1. Add flow actions: Marketing -> Add to List -> choose list name created

previously

  1. Click Schedule

    1. Click Run Once to populate the sync list the first time

    2. Click Schedule Recurrence -> set to Daily -> Save

Step 5: Adding Buyer Discovery custom fields

With the CSV of available fields found in Step 2, you can create the Buyer Discovery Custom Fields in Marketo. If there is a match in Buyer Discovery, these custom fields will show intent data for the leads in the List created in Step 3. To recap, this List is populated with People in your Marketo instance using the Smart Campaign from Step 4.

Each of these fields will be marked. We recommend each non-required field be created, but this is up to the user’s discretion.

To add a custom field to Marketo:

  1. Log in to Marketo -> Admin -> Database Management: Field Management

  2. Click Field Actions -> New Custom Field

  3. Enter the details for each variable based on the values in the downloaded CSV for custom fields (Earlier Step 1.6)

Step 6: Configuring in the Buyer Discovery web app

Once all relevant custom fields are created, you can complete the configuration within the Buyer Discovery Web App to begin the data sync.

To configure the integration, once authenticated:

  1. Apply any desired filters (NOTE: these filters will restrict the Buyer Discovery data

    1. considered for a match against the leads in the Marketo sync list – we recommend

    2. applying as few filters as necessary, if any.)

  2. Click Save

  1. The integration will begin syncing and you should see data in Marketo within 2-3 hours, depending on how many leads are on the sync list
